HOA Lender

Job Summary

   This leadership role is responsible for overseeing a team of Commercial Relationship Officers, driving deposit and loan growth, expanding treasury management services, and strengthening the Bank’s presence within the association banking industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, deep association lending expertise, and a proven track record of business development, portfolio management, and relationship expansion.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of Commercial Relationship Officers focused on HOA, COA, and Property Management Company relationships across multiple markets.
  • Develop and execute strategic growth initiatives to increase deposits, loans, treasury management services, and overall profitability.
  • Monitor industry and market trends to support the continued evolution and competitiveness of the Association Banking division.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop relationship management and portfolio support staff.
  • Structure and provide recommendations on association credit facilities including reserve loans, operating lines, special assessments, and capital improvement financing.
  • Analyze association financial statements, reserve studies, delinquency trends, budgets, and collateral structures to assess repayment capacity and credit risk.
  • Engage directly with association boards, property managers, attorneys, and managing agents to evaluate financial needs and provide tailored banking solutions.
  • Ensure all association lending activities comply with governing documents, underwriting standards, banking regulations, and required borrowing authorizations.
  • Lead business development efforts through networking, outreach, industry partnerships, and relationship management programs.
  • Oversee portfolio performance, risk management reporting, and loan documentation accuracy.
  • Assist with forecasting loan production, deposit growth, fee income, and profitability metrics.
  • Coordinate with internal departments including Credit, Compliance, Operations, and Treasury Management to ensure seamless client service and operational efficiency.
  • Provide coaching and technical guidance related to association governance, reserve financing, delinquency trends, and HOA/COA-specific credit underwriting.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Association Banking, Commercial Banking, or Community Association Lending strongly preferred.
  • Experience working directly with Homeowners Associations, Condominium Associations, Property Management Companies, or CAI-affiliated organizations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HOA and COA banking, reserve funding methodologies, special assessments, cash flow analysis, and association governance structures.
  • Proven leadership experience managing commercial banking or relationship management teams.
  • Strong credit analysis and underwriting experience related to association lending products.
  • Ability to analyze association budgets, reserve studies, delinquency trends, and repayment capacity.
  • Strong business development and relationship management skills with a demonstrated ability to grow portfolios and market presence.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders and volunteer board members.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service.
