Loan Closing Specialist

A financial institution is seeking a detail-oriented Loan Closing Specialist to support the loan closing process by ensuring all credit conditions, due diligence items, and closing requirements are satisfied prior to loan funding. This role is responsible for coordinating loan closings, reviewing documentation, maintaining closing files, and communicating with internal teams, attorneys, and borrowers throughout the closing process. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, knowledge of secured transactions and loan documentation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced banking environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Review executed commitment letters and credit approval documents to determine due diligence and closing requirements.
Prepare and maintain internal closing checklists for assigned loan transactions.
Open, maintain, and update electronic closing files throughout the loan closing lifecycle.
Communicate with loan officers, attorneys, paralegals, and internal departments regarding closing requirements, deficiencies, and loan status updates.
Follow up on outstanding due diligence items to ensure completion prior to closing and funding.
Prepare insurance requirement letters and review insurance documentation for compliance.
Prepare escrow calculations and amortization schedules using standard templates.
Review loan documentation prepared by attorneys or paralegals to ensure consistency with approvals and Bank procedures.
Prepare standard loan documentation for unsecured loans, CD-secured loans, UCC loans, and other assigned transactions.
Assist with weekly reporting related to assigned closing files and pipeline activity.
Ensure compliance with Bank policies, loan closing procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Complete assigned training programs and assist with special projects as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant banking experience.
Minimum 2 years of experience in loan closings, secured transactions, real estate, or commercial lending support required.
Basic knowledge of commercial law, secured transactions, mortgage documentation, estates and trusts, and real estate concepts preferred.
Experience with commercial and residential loan closings preferred.
Familiarity with RESPA and financial institution regulatory compliance preferred.
Experience with loan closing software such as LaserPro and Encompass preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced banking environment.
