Commercial Relationship manager

Job Summary

 This role is responsible for cultivating new commercial lending and deposit opportunities, maintaining strong client relationships, and delivering tailored banking solutions to middle-market and commercial clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial credit, business development, and relationship management within the banking industry.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of commercial clients with a focus on growing loans, deposits, and treasury management relationships. 
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and community involvement. 
  • Cross-sell commercial banking products and services to maximize client relationships and overall share of wallet. 
  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and credit structures to evaluate lending opportunities and risk exposure. 
  • Structure, negotiate, and present commercial credit requests in accordance with bank credit policies and underwriting standards. 
  • Monitor portfolio performance, including covenant compliance, overdrafts, past dues, and overall credit quality. 
  • Maintain strong knowledge of commercial real estate and C&I lending products. 
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies and regulatory requirements, including BSA, AML, OFAC, and related banking regulations. 
  • Represent the bank within the local business community through networking events, industry associations, and client meetings. 
  • Partner closely with credit, treasury management, and retail banking teams to deliver exceptional customer service and financial solutions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred. 
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial banking relationship management experience. 
  • Proven experience managing and growing commercial loan and deposit portfolios. 
  • Strong commercial credit and underwriting knowledge required. 
  • Experience with commercial real estate and commercial & industrial lending preferred. 
  • Demonstrated business development and relationship-building skills with a successful track record of portfolio growth. 
  • Strong understanding of banking regulations, compliance, and risk management practices. 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. 
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple client relationships and priorities.
