Lending Service manager

Job Summary

This role is responsible for overseeing all loan servicing activities from post-closing through payoff, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, strong internal controls, and an exceptional member experience.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in loan servicing operations, compliance, process improvement, vendor management, and team leadership. This individual will play a critical role in managing servicing risk, optimizing workflows, supporting audits and examinations, and driving operational efficiency across the servicing function.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all consumer, mortgage, and commercial loan servicing operations 
  • Manage loan boarding, payment processing, escrow administration, payoff processing, lien releases, collateral tracking, and account maintenance 
  • Oversee loan modifications, renewals, extensions, assumptions, and post-closing servicing activities 
  • Ensure accurate management of insurance tracking, hazard insurance, flood insurance, collateral protection insurance, and force-placed insurance processes 
  • Manage real estate tax administration, escrow processes, and insurance tracking activities 
  • Ensure proper lien perfection, title management, collateral tracking, and UCC administration 
  • Oversee commercial loan covenant monitoring and servicing exception management 
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, including SCRA, privacy requirements, servicing disclosures, error resolution requirements, and information security procedures 
  • Oversee eOscar credit bureau dispute processing and resolution activities 
  • Ensure audit and examination readiness through proper documentation, workflow evidence, exception logs, and remediation tracking 
  • Monitor operational, regulatory, and reputational risk and implement corrective actions and process improvements 
  • Partner with Compliance, Internal Audit, Risk Management, and external examiners during audits and examinations 
  • Manage servicing controls including reconciliations, dual controls, segregation of duties, access reviews, and exception reporting 
  • Oversee third-party vendor performance, service level agreements, due diligence reviews, and issue resolution 
  • Lead operational improvement initiatives focused on automation, efficiency, quality control, and cost reduction 
  • Participate in system conversions, servicing platform upgrades, product launches, and workflow enhancements 
  • Produce and analyze servicing KPIs, operational metrics, risk indicators, and management reporting 
  • Monitor departmental capacity, workflow backlogs, staffing levels, and service standards 
  • Hire, train, coach, mentor, and develop servicing staff 
  • Conduct performance evaluations, manage employee development plans, and support succession planning initiatives

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered 
  • Minimum 5 years of loan servicing experience within a bank, credit union, mortgage company, or financial institution required 
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or management experience required 
  • Strong understanding of consumer, mortgage, and commercial loan servicing operations 
  • Deep knowledge of payment processing, escrow administration, insurance tracking, lien perfection, title administration, and UCC tracking 
  • Experience managing loan servicing compliance, audits, regulatory examinations, and operational risk controls 
  • Knowledge of SCRA, credit reporting disputes, servicing regulations, privacy requirements, and internal controls 
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, service providers, and third-party servicing partners 
  • Strong reporting, analytical, and operational management skills 
  • Experience with loan servicing systems and core banking platforms 
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities 
  • Ability to lead process improvement initiatives and operational transformation efforts 
  • Credit union experience preferred
