residential loan officer

Job Summary

 This role is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans and guiding borrowers through the full lending process. The ideal candidate will deliver a high-quality customer experience while ensuring loans meet investor, regulatory, and bank requirements. This position also plays a key role in developing referral relationships and supporting the growth of the bank’s residential lending portfolio.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Originate residential mortgage loans in accordance with bank policies and investor guidelines
     
  • Interview borrowers, analyze financial information, and evaluate loan eligibility
     
  • Complete and review loan applications and supporting documentation
     
  • Ensure compliance with FNMA/FHLMC guidelines and regulatory requirements
     
  • Build and maintain referral relationships with realtors and community partners
     
  • Provide exceptional service throughout the loan application and closing process
     
  • Adhere to BSA/AML requirements and internal policies
     
  • Support additional lending or operational duties as needed

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
     
  • 3–4+ years of residential mortgage lending experience
     
  • Working knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC guidelines and mortgage products
     
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
     
  • Ability to manage multiple loans and deadlines with strong attention to detail
     
  • Experience with loan origination systems and digital mortgage platforms (e.g., MortgageBot) preferred
     
  • Established local referral relationships are a plus
