Loan operations manager

The Loan Accounting & Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing loan data integrity, general ledger reconciliations, quality control processes, and internal audit coordination within Loan Operations. This role supervises daily loan maintenance and booking activities to ensure accurate core system postings and compliance with SOX and regulatory requirements. The position also leads exception investigations, supports system updates and operational projects, strengthens internal controls, and ensures readiness for internal and external audits. Additionally, the Supervisor provides hands-on leadership, training, and guidance to staff while promoting operational efficiency and regulatory compliance across the department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise loan general ledger reconciliations and exception investigations
  • Review and approve loan maintenance cases to ensure booking accuracy
  • Oversee daily loan maintenance postings within the core system to maintain portfolio data integrity
  • Ensure compliance with SOX control requirements and regulatory standards
  • Assist with mass core system updates, setting modifications, and error investigations
  • Support system-related projects impacting Loan Operations applications
  • Coordinate and prepare reporting for auditors and regulatory examiners
  • Lead department self-audits and ensure adherence to policies and procedures
  • Analyze and enhance internal controls and operational efficiencies
  • Develop and update written operating procedures in partnership with management
  • Monitor federal regulatory changes impacting Loan Operations
  • Supervise, coach, and train staff; provide daily leadership and performance oversight

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent banking experience)
  • 5–7 years of progressive loan operations experience with strong knowledge of loan documentation, processing, accounting, and regulatory compliance
  • Bank experience
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Experience with loan general ledger reconciliations and exception management
  • Strong report writing and business communication skills
  • Ability to present findings, delegate responsibilities, and make sound decisions
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong customer service mindset and cross-department communication skills
