CRE Portfolio manager

Job Summary

 This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial real estate credit relationships, with a focus on structured finance lending. The position emphasizes disciplined credit analysis, risk management, and structuring of complex financial transactions. The CRE Portfolio Manager supports portfolio performance through proactive monitoring, underwriting expertise, and collaborative problem-solving across internal stakeholders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of CRE clients, monitoring financial trends, risks, and performance.
  • Underwrite, structure, and document new and existing transactions, ensuring sound risk-return balance.
  • Conduct in-depth credit analysis and research for loan approvals, renewals, and modifications.
  • Approve credit within delegated authority and recommend higher-risk transactions for review.
  • Identify early warning signs and develop remediation plans for underperforming loans.
  • Collaborate with relationship managers, risk, legal, and operations to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Recommend and implement process and policy improvements to enhance portfolio oversight.
  • Exercise sound, independent judgment in complex lending scenarios.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in commercial real estate underwriting, portfolio management, and credit decision-making.
  • Expertise in CRE lending, structured finance, and risk assessment.
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit policies, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, credit systems, and portfolio analysis tools.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Professional certifications (CFA, CPA) a plus.
