Jr. SBA Specialist

Job Summary

 The Jr. SBA Business Development Officer (BDO) is responsible for generating and managing SBA loan opportunities for small business clients. This position focuses on business development, financial analysis, and relationship management while working closely with internal credit, underwriting, and operations teams to ensure efficient loan origination and closing. The role offers exposure to SBA lending and provides a foundation for career growth within commercial banking.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify and prospect SBA loan opportunities through networking, referrals, and targeted outreach.
  • Build and maintain relationships with borrowers, referral sources, and industry professionals.
  • Analyze borrower financials, business plans, and collateral to assess loan eligibility and structure financing solutions.
  • Prepare and present loan packages for SBA and internal credit approval.
  • Coordinate with underwriting, credit, and operations teams to ensure timely processing and closing.
  • Act as the borrower’s primary point of contact, providing guidance on SBA loan programs and requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with SBA regulations, internal policies, and applicable laws.
  • Track loan production, pipeline activity, and other performance metrics.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 1–3 years of experience in lending, banking, or financial services (SBA or commercial lending exposure a plus).
  • Strong sales and business development skills with the ability to generate and manage leads.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements, cash flow analysis, and credit evaluation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities; capable of handling multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and eager to grow within SBA lending.
