CIU Senior operations officer

Job Summary:

The CIU Operations Officer supports the Operations Manager in overseeing the Customer Information Unit (CIU), ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance of all customer information and account documentation. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of operational controls, and familiarity with BSA/AML standards. The CIU Operations Officer also serves as a backup for the Operations Manager and contributes to process improvements, regulatory compliance, and team efficiency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Validate new account documentation and system input for all new and existing customer records submitted by branches, commercial lending, and relationship banking.
  • Confirm completeness of documentation and compliance with BSA/AML standards; report discrepancies daily.
  • Review daily file maintenance and account opening/closure reports to ensure data accuracy.
  • Maintain logs of account openings, including account number, name, and officer.
  • Apply IRS backup withholding flags as instructed.
  • Review and assist with indexing of CIU documentation in the imaging system.
  • Ensure accurate scanning, labeling, and organization of CIU records.
  • Open, review, and process Qwick Rate (QR), CD Rate Line, and Treasury Public Funds CDs.
  • Process collections (documentary and clean) and handle related SWIFT/wire requests.
  • Release and review investment transactions related to the Bank’s portfolio.
  • Prepare, log, and mail confirmations; scan investment documentation into the imaging system.
  • Review end-of-month reconciliations and ensure accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Serve as float coverage for indexing clerk and support processing of returned mail.
  • Provide coverage for CIU-related functions during staff absences.
  • Support the Operations Manager in implementing procedural changes and regulatory updates.
  • Execute additional tasks or projects as assigned by the Chief Operations Officer or Operations Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and 4+ years’ banking/operations experience.
  • Background in commercial banking operations, with strong regulatory and compliance awareness.
  • Experience with Jack Henry systems is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks under pressure.
  • Fluent in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
