Senior Portfolio Manager

Job Summary

This position is responsible for servicing a specific group of the division’s existing commercial real estate customers and to assume responsibility for aspects of credit and loan management for those customers. This position will also serve as a liaison between the Bank’s local branch network and CRE lending. This individual will also be responsible for customer retention and relationship management and is expected to contribute to commercial real estate loan production.

In addition, this position is responsible for the efficient and timely monitoring and servicing of an assigned existing residential and commercial loan portfolio. Compliance with the OFAC Regulations is the responsibility of ALL employees of the Bank. You are expected to be familiar with and have knowledge of the requirements of OFAC Regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Independently interact with and service daily a specific portfolio of existing bank commercial real estate clients, including attendance at customer meetings outside the office, membership and involvement in commercial real estate organizations/events and revenue generation through loan production goals.
Proactively contact commercial real estate clients for annually required statements, initiate write- ups for new loan opportunities, renewals and annual reviews and source new loan opportunities from existing commercial real estate clients.
Independently analyze and measure bank’s risk through regular financial assessment of existing commercial real estate customers, including presenting individual analyses at internal bank meetings held to assess business customer’s financial conditions. Identify and promptly report issues related to credit quality.
Manage assigned authority, through the daily exercise of discretion and independent judgment, for loan approval for existing business customers, including assessment of credit approval, collateral decisions and loan structure, as well as authorizing and approving wire transfers and customer account overdrafts.
Analyze loan documents, with responsibility for ensuring accuracy, and meet with customers to finalize execution.
Recommend and provide expert advice and counsel to existing bank customers on a broad range of bank products and services, based on individualized assessment of the customer’s overall business needs and financial circumstance.
Be fully cognizant of the Bank’s Credit Policies and of any changes/amendments, and adhere to them at all times.
Diligently document calling efforts on prospect/customer visits in file memos.
Actively manage the assigned loan portfolio, ensure receipt of all required current documentation, be vigilant and proactive on existing loans status and begin immediate remedial/collection efforts when the need arises.
Prepare initial cursory credit analysis on all new loan prospects and present to Senior Lending Officer/Officer’s Credit Committee for discussion and determination on whether to proceed with full underwriting.
Actively and cooperatively work with Underwriter assigned to a new loan and assist in the gathering of any required information or response to any question posed during the credit underwriting process.
Actively participate in the closing process of each approved loan and ensure that it is properly booked and disbursed.
Support the lenders on case by case basis at any task required during the loan process.*

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum 5 years of commercial credit analysis or equivalent experience required.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
Exercise an advanced understanding of the commercial loan transaction, including credit approval, collateral decisions and loan structure.
Detail oriented individual with solid financial/accounting aptitude.
Must be self-motivated, efficient, and possess cooperative work habits to quickly adjust to the fast pace of peak transaction periods and new business.
Excellent presentation skills and public speaking ability.
